If you know you will be moving your small business to a new location, you probably have your eye on the larger details, such as moving the furniture and equipment and hiring cleaners for the old office. However, there are also three smaller details of commercial moving that you want to take care of before the move to keep from having issues down the road.

Let Your Suppliers Know in Advance

You don't want to be without your business supplies after you've moved. However, if you forget to let your suppliers know that you have moved, this is what will most likely happen. On the other hand, if you neglect to tell them until a few days before the move, you may have a significant delay in your shipments.

Once you have an approximate date of when you will be moving your business to its new location, let your suppliers know. If possible, try to inform them of your new address a month or two in advance.

Especially if you have recurring orders, they can switch your mailing information in time so that you do not miss any shipments. This can also keep you from having your supplies delivered to your old address after the move.

Order New Business Cards and Stationery

Another small detail that you want to take care of a few weeks to a month before you move your business is your business cards and stationery, such as envelopes and letterhead. If you forget to order new ones until right before the move, you and your employees may be scratching out the old information and manually replacing it with the new.

Since you probably do not want to be faced with that situation because it would make your business look unprofessional, make sure your order your new cards and stationery about a month before the move.

Call and ask your stationery company about the amount of time they require to print up the new stationery. Doing so will give the vendor enough time to print and ship everything in time so that you and your employees have everything you need

Using the above tips can help make the moving of your small business go more smoothly. If you have any questions or need more tips, contact the commercial moving service you will be using to seek their personalized advice about ensuring the move goes well for your particular business.
