Do you have large items that you need to move out of your home, but your house is a bit too small to use a dolly? If so, forearm moving straps may be the solution to your problem. These straps can be used with two people to help navigate those heavy items around corners, down stairs, and through doorways. He are some tips for using them.

Placing The Straps On Furniture

Where you put the straps around a furniture item is crucial to ensure that you do not drop it. When possible, the straps should always go on the inside of the legs of the furniture you are trying to move. The legs will help prevent the straps from sliding off the items when moving at an incline, making the item more stable for everyone that is lifting it. Straps should also be touching as much of the item you are moving as possible. This helps distribute the weight of the item across the entire strap, which will prevent part of your furniture from breaking.

Wearing The Straps

Forearm moving straps have several holes for you to slide your arms into, which can leave you wondering which holes you should use. You want to use holes that are low enough so that when the strap is placed below your elbow you can still touch the furniture item. While most of the weight is on your forearm, you still need to use your hands for balance.

Lifting The Furniture

You always want to lift furniture with forearm moving straps by squatting next to the item and standing upward, taking the weight of the item with you. You should not be bending forward and lifting with your back, since you can cause serious injury to yourself in the process.

It is also important that you mirror the motions of the person you are lifting furniture with. If they are balancing the top of the item with their left hand and the side with their right hand, you should be balancing the top of the item with your right hand and the side with your left hand. You'll find that this helps with balancing the item since you are both not fighting with moving the furniture in a different direction.

Seem like too much labor to do on your own? Have a local moving company, such as Colorado Premier Moving & Storage LLC, do all the heavy lifting for you.
